We are seeking a leader to head the risk function in Hong Kong, ensuring the company operates within a robust risk management framework that aligns with local regulatory requirements and group standards. This pivotal role is responsible for safeguarding the organisation against operational, regulatory, financial, and emerging risks, while enabling sustainable business growth and reinforcing regional risk governance. Responsibilities Lead and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework in Hong Kong Support the SHK risk management governance structure and facilitate the quarterly Risk and Capital Committee meetings Annual updates to the Risk Appetite Statement, ORSA, Risk Management Strategy and Risk Register Timely escalation of any risk matters to management, within the ERM function and to the Board as needed Lead Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA), stress testing, and scenario analysis processes Business Partnering & Advisory Provide independent and strategic risk advice to the CEO and Executive Committee in Hong Kong Partner with business units to assess and mitigate risk in day‑to‑day operations and strategic projects Risk reviews of material outsourcing, major initiatives and business development Promote a strong, forward‑looking risk culture across all business units Build, develop, and lead the Hong Kong risk team, ensuring professional growth and succession planning Coach business leaders in integrating risk considerations into decision‑making Regulatory Compliance & Engagement Act as the primary risk liaison with the Insurance Authority (IA), HKMA, and other relevant regulators Ensure timely, accurate, and insightful reporting to regulators, the Board, and APAC CRO Regional & Group Contribution Contribute to APAC risk governance and participate in group‑wide risk initiatives Provide local market insights into regional and global material and emerging risk assessments Collaborate with regional peers to ensure consistency and best‑practice adoption Qualifications Minimum 5 years’ experience within insurance or financial services Proven track record in regulatory engagement in Hong Kong Strong knowledge of ERM, operational risk, ORSA, financial and non‑financial risk Fluency in English and Cantonese desirable (not must) Strategic Thinking: Ability to anticipate, assess, and communicate emerging risks Influence & Communication: Confidence engaging with regulators, boards, and executives Leadership & Team Development: Ability to coach and grow a risk team Analytical Ability: Strong capacity to interpret and apply complex data Integrity & Judgement: Uphold independence while enabling business growth Success Indicators Robust risk framework embedded and operating effectively Strong and proactive regulator relationships Board and CEO confidence in the quality and clarity of risk insights Improved risk culture and risk literacy across the business Measurable contributions to APAC and group risk initiatives Benefits We offer hybrid work and competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualification and experience.
