As a Payroll Consultant for Africa, you will lead clients through the implementation of our Deel Local Payroll system across South Africa and the broader African region, ensuring efficient, compliant and aligned payroll processes. Responsibilities Lead clients through a structured payroll implementation journey. Conduct regional discovery & needs analysis to understand current payroll systems, business structures, and compliance requirements. Create comprehensive documentation for requirements, configurations, and project changes. Translate client requirements into software configurations, customizing settings for country‑specific regulations, tax laws, benefits, pay rules, earning/deduction codes, employee groups, and security roles. Design and execute data migration strategies, cleansing and validating data for compatibility. Lead side‑by‑side payroll comparisons (parallel runs) to validate accuracy and investigate discrepancies. Guide clients through their first payroll run, resolving issues in real time and ensuring compliance. Manage your client portfolio to ensure timely, high‑quality payroll implementations, meeting monthly billable hours goals. Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (BCom), Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (postgraduate qualification or certification such as PMP is a plus). 3+ years proven experience in payroll system implementation. Strong understanding of South African payroll laws and compliance standards. Experience with various payroll systems and software. Ability and interest in client‑facing project management. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
