Volunteer - Marine Conservation / Small Business Cornerstone Strategies is a boutique consultancy providing tailored strategic support to charities, foundations and SMEs in Asia Pacific and beyond. Our mission is to bolster the ability of NGOs, foundations and SMEs to deliver successful outcomes through quality strategic planning and execution support. We are currently looking for an intern to primarily support our work with the Hong Kong Marine Protection Alliance. The Hong Kong Marine Protection Alliance (HKMPA) was established in late 2019 as a collaborative platform to tackle the challenges threatening Hong Kong’s rich and biodiverse marine ecosystems. The HKMPA has grown over time and currently comprises 53 members, representing academia, NGOs, think tanks, corporate partners, and independent experts. Members share a common objective in seeking to raise awareness of marine biodiversity and conservation, and have united behind a shared vision of a future network of MPAs covering 30% of Hong Kong waters, benefiting people and wildlife. Time commitment: Roughly 2 days per week, from Jan – Oct 2026. Much of the work can be flexible and done in the intern’s own time, but the ability to join set meetings and meet deadlines is important. Tasks Desktop research, primarily related to marine science and conservation Organise internal and external meetings Produce notes from key meetings Draft terms of reference for projects Volunteer will get exposure to Entrepreneurial small business operations Non‑profit and foundation sectors Strategic thinking and planning Marine conservation planning and execution Ability to gain new hard and soft skills Opportunity to meet new people and make new connections Collaborating with stakeholders to achieve impactful results Skills / Mindset Based in Hong Kong and legally able to work here Positive attitude, desire to contribute positively to the environment and society Good written and spoken Cantonese and English Students will be considered but need to be M.Sc level or higher. Those with existing work experience are preferred Well‑organised Professional appearance A science or other background that emphasises analytical thinking is preferred Some knowledge of marine conservation and/or the Greater Bay Area would be ideal, but is not essential Sense of humour A basic level of financial compensation to cover expenses will be provided.
