Job Responsibilities:

The position will focus on acute myeloid leukemia under the direction of Dr. Steven Chan as part of a collaborative program between the University of Hong Kong and the University Health Network/Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (Canada). The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the principal investigator's scientific teams at the Centre for Oncology and Immunology and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to systemically decipher the synthetic lethal interactions with mutations that are commonly found in myeloid malignancies (e.g., acute myeloid leukemia) using state-of-art functional genomics tools.

Candidates are expected to perform collaborative research projects in the discovery of synthetic lethal interactions using large scale functional genomics approaches and novel animal models. Candidates will also be involved in the development of novel compounds against established targets.

Qualifications and Skills:

Applicants with strong research background in Molecular Biology is required. A strong background in other fields of biomedical sciences including Cancer Biology, Genomics, Metabolomics, Bioinformatics, Single Cell Technology or Medicinal Chemistry is highly desirable.

Applicants should:

  • Possess a demonstrated track record of publishing academic research papers
  • Understanding and/or experience in CRISPR/Cas9 technology, high-throughput screening techniques, next generation sequencing, and single cell sequencing technologies
  • Experienced in molecular biology laboratory techniques (including cloning) and handling mammalian cell culture
  • Specialised research interest in multi-omics profiling, bioinformatics, cancer metabolism, medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery
  • Experienced in mouse models, xenograft models and biobanking
  • Experienced in animal handling technique

Applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English, strong communication skills, and be self-motivated, hardworking and able to work well in an interdisciplinary team.

The appointees shall work in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.

Overseas graduate is welcome to apply, the qualification awarding institution should be the top 100 institutions for STEM-related subjects in QS/Shanghai Jiao Tong Uni/Times Higher Education/U.S. News world university rankings.

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow posts should possess a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent qualification in one of the said relevant disciplines. (H03/2023/C1/UHN)
