For more information about the University, please visit We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Education and Languages: Job Temporary/Part-time R&D School/Unit School of Education and Languages Closing Date 01/Jan/2026, 3:59:00 PM Major Duties And Responsibilities Collecting, scanning, digitising, and anonymising HKDSE English writing samples from participating secondary schools; Building and managing a pilot HKDSE English writing corpus (data entry, metadata tagging, file organisation); Annotating texts using Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) frameworks in UAM CorpusTool (generic stages, appraisal, periodicity, theme‑rheme, etc.); Conducting literature reviews, managing references (EndNote/Zotero), and preparing manuscripts/conference papers; Providing logistic and administrative support for school visits, teacher workshops, and project meetings; and Performing other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator. Candidates Should Possess The Following Qualifications, Experience, And Competence A Bachelor’s degree or above (Master’s students are welcome) in English Language, Applied Linguistics, Education, Systemic Functional Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Corpus Linguistics, or a related discipline; Strong command of written and spoken English (native or near‑native proficiency preferred); good command of Cantonese is an advantage; Familiarity with Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) and/or genre-based pedagogy is highly desirable; Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines; and Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team.
