Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) is a private organization jointly owned by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and The Hong Kong Association of Banks. The Company’s key objective is to develop and operate a safe and efficient multi-currency and multi-dimensional financial infrastructure in Hong Kong for: large-value interbank fund transfers denominated in HKD, USD, Euro and RMB; interbank money settlement of equity and debt securities transactions in Hong Kong via the linkages with the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited and the HKMA’s Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) system; small-value interbank fund transfers denominated in HKD and RMB via the HKD and RMB Faster Payment System; and interbank clearing and/or money settlement of retail payments, such as paper cheques, autocredits, credit card payments, etc. in Hong Kong. The Company is also the operator of the HKMA’s CMU system. Apart from interbank clearing-and-settlement services, the Company and its subsidiaries also support the HKMA and the financial industry to foster the development of the financial technology (“FinTech”) ecosystem in Hong Kong. We are looking for a suitable candidate to take up the following job position. Manager (Clearing Operations) Major Responsibilities Responsible for supervising and monitoring all daily operations performed in the primary and secondary clearing centres to ensure compliance with the established control procedures and requirements. Assist supervisor in prompt escalation and resolution of any production problems or irregularities encountered during the course of operations and prepare incident reports as appropriate, following up on the remediation action and improvement plan. Assist member banks in solving daily operational issues relating to bulk clearing services, Faster Payment System (FPS) and maintain a highly effective communication with member banks. Oversee and manage the overall new service/product implementation cycle and ensure the service/product is properly launched with high performance. Manage the progress of all project activities involved and ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with the agreed requirements, standards and timeline. Ensure departmental procedural manuals are updated and comply with the Clearing House Rules and Clearing Operating Procedures. Review and ensure all contingency procedures and resources in relation to clearing operations are in place. Perform any other duties as assigned by the superiors. Requirements University education preferably majoring in business studies, finance and banking or related disciplines. Over 10 years of experience in payment and cheque processing, item processing and clearing operations, preferably with 4 years of managerial experience. Knowledge of clearing and payment systems will be an advantage. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua is preferable. Good interpersonal and supervisory skills; independent and able to work under pressure. Willing to perform shift duties as required.
