Overview Senior Area Manager, Strategic Accounts - Japan (based in Tokyo) role at Agoda. Lead area strategy, drive significant business growth, and provide leadership to account management teams. The Opportunity As Senior Area Manager, your main objectives will be to develop and execute an area-level strategy, based on data and market knowledge and to drive significant business growth. You will also be responsible for providing guidance and leadership to account management teams and for delivering targets and growth expectations that form a key part of Agoda’s business goals. You bring excellent analytical skills, strong account and client management experience, a successful record of sustainable performance and the capacity to lead, motivate, coach and mentor teams. Responsibilities Lead the implementation of market strategy in Japan. Lead, inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams to grow our local business. Optimize partnerships to maximize productivity and competitive advantage. Regularly engage with key stakeholders to drive brand and growth. Deliver country commercial and profitability targets. Identify opportunities in the market and propose solutions to local leadership to capture those opportunities. Develop and own relationships with key decision makers at hotels, technology partners and other local or regional partners. Advocate for the team, pitch new ideas backed by business cases, and request additional support for commercial improvements. Attend and participate in relevant industry events. What you'll Need to Succeed 5+ years of experience in key account management, business development, or strategic partnerships; strong preference for experience in a multinational corporation and stakeholder management across countries. Previous OTA experience is a plus but not required. Key Account Management expertise with complex, strategic accounts and executive relationships. Strong negotiation skills for hotel contracts, marketing agreements, and related terms. Strategic partnership development aligning OTA offerings with hotel objectives. Business acumen in hotel industry economics, distribution, and revenue strategies. Consultative sales approach to optimize presence and performance on the OTA platform. Strong analytical skills to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations (KPIs include ADR, occupancy, conversion, booking patterns). Data-driven decision making; SQL skills are a strong plus. Forecasting and performance monitoring capabilities. Problem-solving skills for complex, large-scale partnerships. Business level English and Japanese required. Executive presence and strong communication, with ability to present to hotel partners and executives. Cross-functional collaboration with product, tech, marketing, finance, and legal teams. Presentation skills for quarterly business reviews. Technical aptitude with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), analytics tools, and potential API integrations. Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced travel industry. Project management ability to handle multiple initiatives with tight deadlines.
