Head of Medical Writer

Our client is an advertising services company that provides scientific marketing support to multinational corporations and medical institutions. They are currently seeking a Chief Medical Writer to lead their medical writing team. This role involves overseeing the development of high-quality scientific and regulatory documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and fostering a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep medical writing expertise, and a solid understanding of regulatory requirements. Job Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Set strategic direction for the medical writing team. Hire, train, mentor, and manage medical writers. Assign tasks effectively and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables. Promote a positive, collaborative team environment. Document Development Oversee the creation of clinical and regulatory documents, including protocols, brochures, study reports, and submissions. Ensure all documents meet regulatory standards, templates, and internal quality guidelines. Review and provide constructive feedback on team members’ work. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, and biostatistics teams to gather input for documents. Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on medical writing projects. Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with ICH, GCP, and other regulatory and scientific standards. Implement quality control processes to maintain accuracy and consistency. Strategic Planning Help develop medical writing strategies and project timelines. Identify and resolve challenges, offering creative solutions to meet goals. Training & Development Conduct training to enhance team skills and knowledge. Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and medical advancements. Job Requirements Education & Experience Master’s or Ph.D. in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or a related field. 8–10 years of medical writing experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role. Proven ability to deliver high-quality regulatory and scientific documents. Technical Expertise Deep knowledge of clinical research, drug development, and regulatory requirements. Strong grasp of medical and scientific terminology. Leadership Skilled in leading, mentoring, and managing teams. Strong project management and organizational abilities. Communication Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to explain complex scientific content clearly and concisely. Analytical Thinking High attention to detail and critical thinking. Capable of analyzing and interpreting scientific data effectively. Software Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with document management systems. Experience with statistical tools is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Experience preparing documents for FDA, EMA, or other global regulatory bodies. Medical writing certification (e.g., AMWA, EMWA) is a plus. Background in managing writing teams in CROs, pharma, or biotech companies.
