Global Strategy Director for an Insurtech unicorn, based in Hong Kong

The company: Our client is a fast-growing globally active Insurtech unicorn. Headquartered in Singapore and with substantial operations in Hong Kong, our client is already present in Asia, US and Europe. As the company is rapidly expanding, they are looking to hire a Strategy Director to drive their growth. The position: What’s on offer: ✅ Chance to disrupt the global insurance industry. ✅ Direct exposure to top management. ✅ Global role but travel is reasonable at ~25%. ✅ Similar compensation as in consulting but with less travel. ✅ Fast paced working environment (work hard, play hard). Our client is looking to hire a candidate with a strong consulting background to join the strategy team. You will be reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer. This is a newly created role due to growth. You will work with senior management and BU/ country heads on growth and go to market strategies and other strategy projects. You will work alongside the M&A team and develop and drive post-merger integration for various acquisitions. Finally, strategic planning is also under your purview. You will provide high level strategic direction, advise top management, and lead junior members of the strategy team. However, you also need to be hands‑on and not afraid to get your hands dirty to get things done. Travel will be mostly in Asia with significantly less travel than in consulting (around 25% travel). This is an ideal role for a consultant who wants to leverage their strategy skillset in a rapid growing Insurtech organization. Requirements: Experience in a top-tier consulting firm is a must (MBB preferred). Experience must be on the consulting side, NOT the transaction/ M&A side. 7-10 years total work experience least half of which must have been in Asia; experience in Hong Kong or Singapore would be very advantageous. Ideal would be 3-4 years post-MBA experience. If you are currently in Consulting, your title should be Engagement Manager or Project Leader or equivalent. Industry experience: Financial services experience is a MUST (additional TMT experience would be great), Insurtech or Fintech experience would be a strong plus. Undergraduate degree from a top-tier school is a must; MBA would be a plus. Functional experience: strategy and growth/ go to market experience is a MUST, ideally in a hyper growth environment. Strong project management experience. Excellent stakeholder management (both C-level and working level) and communication skills. Output driven and structured thinking. Hands‑on mentality and ‘getting things done’ attitude. Fluent English is a must, Mandarin or any other Asian language would be highly advantageous.
