Applications are now invited for the following post: Assistant Library Officer (Cataloguing and Preservation) Library (Post Ref.: 25/273) Responsibilities Assist in original and copy cataloguing of library materials in accordance with international standards and in-house guidelines, and update bibliographic and other records in the Alma Library System Maintain authority control for bibliographical records Assist in collecting cataloguing statistics and compiling reports Carry out end-processing tasks for library materials Perform counter and shift duties on a regular basis, including evenings, weekends and public holidays Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) Requirements A recognized university degree or above Cataloguing experience, preferably in an academic library setting Knowledge of latest cataloguing rules and standards, such as Resource Description & Access, MARC21, Library of Congress Subject Headings and Library of Congress Classification will be an advantage A good command of both written and verbal English and Chinese Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and within a team Work experience of integrated library system, preferably the Alma/Primo systems, will be an advantage Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at the relevant rank. Salary and Fringe Benefits The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
