Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) The School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (BABS) at UNSW has an international reputation in biotechnology, molecular and cellular biology and microbiology. Salary: $113,000 – $121,000 plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading Term: Fixed Term – 2.5 years Working Hours: Full time (35 hours per week) About the Role The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to contribute toward the research effort of UNSW and develop research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to their field. Specific Responsibilities Contribute independently or as part of a team to collaborative research that enhances the quality of outcomes. Conduct research and assist research teams in producing peer‑reviewed scholarly output. Undertake and develop specific research projects under the guidance of a research leader. Support the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels. Undertake discipline‑appropriate research activities (surveys, literature reviews, data gathering). Participate in and present at conferences and workshops as required. Assist in supervision of research students where needed. Prepare weekly reports on work completed. Attend regular (once per week) online meetings with collaborators in Australia and overseas. Assist with animal monitoring and experiments where required. Align with and demonstrate the university Code of Conduct and Values. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures. Selection Criteria A PhD in a related discipline and/or relevant work experience. Commitment to staying up‑to‑date with discipline knowledge. Ability to conduct independent high‑quality academic research with limited supervision. Track record of publications and conference presentations relevant to the role. Teamwork skills, collaboration across disciplines, and relationship building. Highly developed interpersonal skills. Communication skills with diverse stakeholders and students. Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives, values, and related policies. Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and willingness to attend training.
