Head of Product Quality (general merchandise / hardgoods) We are currently seeking a Head of Product Quality (general merchandise / hardgoods) on behalf of our client, a buying office for a retail conglomerate. This seasoned professional will be responsible for developing and implementing a long‑term and short‑term quality strategy that aligns with the group mission. You will create a strategy to shift product quality operations from a reactive to a preventive model. Excellent remuneration package is on offer for the right candidate meeting the following: Responsibilities Review end‑to‑end quality operations and develop a digitisation strategy to gather better data and insights on product quality issues, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction. Define and centralise legal requirements across all product categories/markets in collaboration with HQ. Establish measurable targets to improve the quality of sourced products and services, and shift product quality operations from a reactive to a preventive model. Lead product quality team operations to help develop a quality model and improve operational processes. Stay updated on emerging quality trends and regulatory requirements relevant to the retail domain by working with external stakeholders (industry associations, regulators, etc.). Manage customer incident cases and fulfil customer audits and requirements. Lead update of company’s requirements and coordinate with internal stakeholders to adjust quality operation policy in response to new regulatory priorities and plans. Proactively introduce innovative quality initiatives to maintain a competitive edge. Establish strong relationships with top local suppliers, ensuring open communication channels for sharing quality expectations, providing feedback, and facilitating collaborative problem‑solving. Train and lead a high‑performing quality team fostering a culture of quality excellence, promoting ownership, attention to detail, and continuous learning. Participate in cross‑functional projects and initiatives, providing quality expertise to support overall business growth and improvement efforts. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in management, science, engineering or related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior quality management role, preferably in a buying office / retail industry. Asian supply chain expertise – quality management covering regional markets like China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh and India. Experience in leading strategy development and rollout. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Knowledge of Hardlines or General Merchandise product categories, and appropriate regulatory requirements.
