The person will ensure that all reports and communications published by the CIO team are written succinctly and persuasively with an aim to communicate complex investment ideas to non-institutional clients and general readers. Business Editorial responsibility for the quality of the CIO Office’s publications, and provide approval from the editorial perspective Authoring and editing of Op-eds, publications and social media posts To make the CIO office publications more accessible and digestible Collaborate with in-house asset class/product experts to write, edit and publish product-related content Communicate effectively technical financial terms in simplified layman terms for our variety of readers Work effectively under tight time pressure and keep up with developments in the financial industry Coach junior CIO team members in honing their writing skills Processes Responsible for editing and publishing CIO team publications (in English and Chinese) within tight deadlines and meeting high editorial quality standards. People & Talent Collaborate with senior CIO team members to ghost-write opinion columns on various investment topics which can be pitched to external media organisations if needed Coach junior CIO team members in honing writing skills Governance Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations prescribed for CIO team publications. Effectively and collaboratively identify, elevate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters. Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association (or equivalent) Key stakeholders Asset class heads in CIO Office Chief Investment Officer Wealth Proposition, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Content Management teams Skills and Experience Written Communication Skills in English Written Communication Skills in Chinese (both Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese) Ghost-write opinion editorials in collaboration with senior CIO team authors Coach junior members of CIO team on writing skills Qualifications 10+ years of editing/copywriting experience in major financial organisations Strong understanding of macroeconomics and finance/ financial products Excellent writing and editing skills - English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese Ability to simplify complex investment themes for a broad-based, non-specialist audience Experience of working with authors with various levels of writing skills, especially in coaching junior colleagues in writing succinctly and persuasively About Standard Chartered We're an international bank, nimble enough to act, big enough for impact.
