Redress Design Award Education Senior Manager

Established in 2007, Redress is a pioneering HK-based NGO working to accelerate the change to a circular fashion industry, by educating and empowering designers and consumers, in order to reduce clothing's negative environmental impact.

Our flagship project, The Redress Design Award, is the world's leading sustainable fashion design competition and works to inspire and educate emerging fashion designers on innovating with circular design principles.

The Redress Design Award Education Senior Manager reports directly to the Redress Design Award Programme Director and also works closely with the Strategic Education Director. This role suits a self-motivated, energetic person who is highly organised, resourceful, and passionate about the environment and sustainable fashion.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop new education initiatives for each cycle of the Redress Design Award, working with the Strategic Education Director and the RDA Programme Director to ensure alignment with both the overall Redress Education goals and sponsor deliverables.
  • Lead on execution of educational content for the Redress Academy platform and other educational materials such as the Circular Pathways Course, including webinars, videos, written content, exhibition display content, slideshows, and presentation scripts.
  • Identify and manage competition judges, including overseeing the judging process.
  • Manage the overall calendar for all education-related deliverables in the RDA government grant, in cooperation with the Programme Director.
  • Identify, manage, and develop key relationships with 12-15 key university partners in HK and around the world, in addition to overseeing outreach and relationships with 100+ other university partners.
  • Lead on the format, content, and presentation of live education events including academies, lectures, and workshops in Hong Kong and overseas.
  • Coordinate with the Programme Director regularly on measurement of outcomes against key education deliverables.
  • Support the Programme Director and team on setting RDA competition content and format, including application and judging criteria.
  • Support relationship-building and outreach to designers, retail buyers, and industry professionals to bring in expertise and connections for the benefit of the RDA competition and the 180+ global Alumni Network.
  • Manage a budget for hiring external freelancers, Redress Alumni, and other service providers as needed.
  • Act as a key spokesperson at both Redress and external events, media interviews, and industry engagements, globally but with a key focus in Asia.
  • Occasionally support the wider Redress team at physical events and activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a relevant business or nonprofit role.
  • Understanding of current issues, trends, and challenges in sustainable / circular fashion.
  • Experience in curriculum development and/or direct teaching experience at a tertiary education level.
  • Experience in a managerial position; NGO experience a plus.
  • Established fashion, textile industry, and education institution contacts a plus.
  • Undergraduate university degree (e.g., B.A. or equivalent) in fashion or sustainability-related subjects preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS & DESIRED PROFILE

  • Eligible to live and work in Hong Kong (candidates without a Hong Kong visa will only be considered under exceptional circumstances).
  • Speak fluent English and have polished writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Passion for creating positive change through education.
  • Passion for sustainability and fashion.
  • A strong team player with excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with public speaking experience.
  • Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills are a must.
