Our Seniors Living services are connected and offer a continuum of care to people living across our seven large, active and vibrant retirement living estates. Whether it's one of our five warm and welcoming residential aged care homes or our in-home individualized care and services provider, RAAFA Connect, we are in the business of people looking after people.

We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Kitchen Hand to be part of our fantastic Food & Beverage team at our RAAFA Club located in Meadow Springs near Mandurah. The RAAFA Club is the heartbeat of the estate and is a vibrant facility that boasts contemporary function rooms, meeting spaces and a casual, friendly dining experience for members and their guests. Assisting the Head Chefs and Chefs in preparing and storing food and will be responsible for ensuring the kitchen is cleaned to the highest standard, this role is crucial to the overall efficiency of the kitchen.

The role:
  • Assisting chefs by washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients for cooking. This can include vegetables, meats, and other food items.
  • Keeping the kitchen clean by washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. Regularly sanitising surfaces, including countertops and cutting boards, to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Helping to stock and organise the pantry and cool room ensuring food items are stored correctly and that inventory is updated.
  • Depending on experience and skills, a kitchen hand may assist chefs in cooking or assembling dishes under supervision.
  • Disposing of kitchen waste properly and ensuring that recycling protocols are followed.
  • Ensuring kitchen tools and equipment are in good condition and reporting any maintenance issues.
  • Adhering to food safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe kitchen environment.
  • Collaborating with the kitchen team to ensure timely meal preparation and service, stepping in where assistance is most needed.
  • Delivering food to the Lodge at mealtimes.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to work under pressure.
  • Taking the initiative to learn from more experienced kitchen staff and improving culinary skills.
  • Assisting in monitoring stock levels and communicating when supplies need to be replenished.
And you:
  • Have a valid "C" Class Drivers Licence.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision and to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement principles.
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene regulations.
  • Current training in Food Safe Programs.
