Duties

The appointee will be responsible for leading and supervising in-house building maintenance teams and out-sourced contractors in planning, coordinating and monitoring routine maintenance works, improvement projects and other matters related to the repair and maintenance of building fabrics. Main duties include to:

Plan and provide design inputs for additions, alterations and improvements (AA&I) and other maintenance projects; Arrange condition surveys and preventive maintenance, suggest and implement improvement works related to building fabrics; Prepare tender documents for repair and maintenance and/or improvement works; Supervise the progress of repair and maintenance works, and improvement work contracts to ensure the provision of quality, efficient and effective service to users; Verify completion of maintenance contract or alteration works conducted by contractors, and assist in certifying payment; and Perform any other duties as assigned.

Overtime work and shift duties may be required.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Surveying/Building Studies/Civil Engineering or related disciplines, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”); At least 7 years’ hands-on experience in building maintenance/construction/direct labour and on-site supervision; Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in MS Office applications (including Word and Excel); and Strong sense of risk awareness and responsibility, commitment to teamwork, good interpersonal skills, self-motivation with ability to supervise and work independently under pressure against tight schedules are required. Substantial experience in higher education institutions is preferred.

Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer (Buildings and Grounds).

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
