Senior Underwriter / Underwriter (Financial Lines)

116803Job SummarySupport the team leader on portfolio performance of Financial Lines.Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international brokers and other distributors in support of business retention and acquisition.Assist in formulating and executing underwriting plans for Professional Liability as well as other Financial Lines products when needed and service strategy for these product lines.Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels.Job AccountabilitiesApply Zurich Underwriting elements for Professional Liability (and others) new business & renewals; handling assigned accounts and working within delegated authorities; measure exposure and analyze risk; determine technical price according to agreed pricing process; quote and set coverage; negotiate terms & conditions.Contribute to the development and execution of Zurich’s business strategy for Renewal and New Business.Build relationships in support of customer/business acquisition and retention (by handling a range of queries, providing advice to assist with the development of an account; implementing agreed technical standards, controls, practices, and procedures, thereby maintaining underwriting discipline).Timely update and use of Zurich internal system to proactively manage and improve underwriting and operation efficiency.Contribute ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer, and distributor insights.Job QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or typically hold or working towards a relevant professional qualification such as ACII.2 to 5 years of underwriting experience in domestic or International Program underwriting with extensive knowledge of financial lines products.Fluency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin speaking is an added advantage.Knowledge of Financial Lines products, with a focus on Financial Institutions.Added preference for skills in structuring multinational insurance business.Knowledge of major legal & regulatory issues in Financial Lines in HK and to some extent in overseas markets is an added advantage.Team player is a must.Open-minded to try new ways and alternative approaches of doing things.Self-starter, proactive, results, and execution-oriented.Negotiation, influencing, and selling skills.Ability to develop relationships with key business partners.Ability to build trust-based business relationships with customers and producers.At Zurich, we like to think outside the box and challenge the status quo.
