Job title: Accountant

Position Overview:

The Hong Kong University Alumni Association is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing the financial operations of the Hong Kong University Alumni Association.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage accounts and financial reporting that include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring timely, accurate month-end closing and financial reporting to Management
  • Utilise Xero in managing accounting processes and tasks in daily operations (eg. AP & AR process, GL, account, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable transactions, payroll, accounts payable transactions, recording of revenue and expenses, etc.)
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting process in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, handle the payroll of staff
  • Coordinating and liaising with external parties including external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial agents, local tax and government authorities
  • Ensuring compliance with all finance filing requirements (eg. IRD Tax Filing, MPF, Annual Returns), audits, procedures, and forms

2. Proactive Stakeholder Communication:

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders including executive committee members (e.g. President, Vice-presidents, Honorary Treasurer, and staff to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

     

3. Review processes and systems for enhancement which include analysis, controls, design, and implementation

 

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of relevant accounting & finance working experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and best practices
  • Proven experience with Xero or other accounting software
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel and good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently and proactively
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
