Job Overview

TP ICAP is seeking a Trainee Broker to join our Hong Kong team. This role offers an entry-level opportunity for individuals to gain on-the-job training and exposure to the financial markets we operate within. The ideal candidate is a bright and enthusiastic individual who can work autonomously and collaboratively in a small team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Arrange or introduce trades from client orders
  2. Develop existing and new client relationships
  3. Understand the business objectives of clients
  4. Understand the underlying products being traded by clients and stay up-to-date with new products and procedures, and regulatory, execution, and clearing requirements
  5. Develop new business with existing clients and onboard new clients/traders
  6. Seek to increase the overall revenue of your desk
  7. Maintain an updated knowledge of the products and markets in which you work
  8. Understand the desk's business strategy and identify new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets, products, and clients
  9. Onboard new clients following the correct process with the Client Onboarding team
  10. Assess client needs and financial conditions to identify internal cross-selling opportunities
  11. Understand pertinent regulation within the evolving regulatory landscape
  12. Support a risk and compliance-aware culture and comply with group policies
  13. Exercise independent judgment and act with integrity, care, skill, and diligence to avoid conflicts of interest and escalate issues as appropriate
Essential Competence and Experience
  • Understands ideas and has a viewpoint on the markets and economy
  • Willingness to engage with internal and external stakeholders outside of the immediate desk environment
  • Trilingual language skills in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently to internal and external stakeholders
  • Builds relationships and networks with both internally and externally wherever possible
