Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Centre Operations Manager to join our team at eFinancialCareers. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our data centre, ensuring the efficient execution of batch jobs and maintenance of mainframe systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the activities of shift operators to ensure smooth execution of batch jobs and adherence to operational procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of batch jobs, monitor job performance, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Continuously monitor system performance and health on a 24/7 basis, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
  • Manage and maintain mainframe systems, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
  • Maintain accurate records of data centre inventory, hardware, software, and IT assets, coordinating regular stock takes to verify accuracy.
  • Coordinate with remote hands for on-site support in the data centre, assisting in registering site access for authorized personnel.
  • Oversee renewal of hardware maintenance contracts, coordinating with vendors for break-fix services.
  • Lead incident management process, ensuring quick resolution of incidents to minimize downtime and impact on business operations.
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues, implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Oversee change management process, ensuring all changes are properly documented, tested, and approved before implementation.
  • Translate operation procedures into job log sheets, maintaining records of completed tasks and relevant information.
  • Generate regular reports on data centre operations, incidents, problems, and changes to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Take lead in annual Disaster Recovery (DR) drill, ensuring preparedness and effective response to potential disruptions.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to shift operators and other team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, minimum 15 years of experience in data centre operations, and at least 3-5 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of mainframe systems, batch job scheduling, incident management, problem management, and change management is required. Proficiency in Connect:Direct, IBM Workload Scheduler, and version control tools such as Endevor and Git is also essential. Familiarity with ITIL best practices and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow is a plus. Experience with system monitoring tools such as NetGains, PRTG is highly desirable. Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or mainframe-specific certifications are an added advantage.

Estimated Salary Range:

$140,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
