Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel, Competition Law

HSBC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Global Legal team in Hong Kong. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the bank's businesses and functions in Asia Pacific on competition law issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice on competition law issues to internal clients, ensuring the provision of robust, balanced, and forward-looking guidance.
  • Support the bank's M&A transactions from the perspective of ensuring the risk of breach of competition law is appropriately mitigated.
  • Assist with the management of competition regulatory or internal investigations.
  • Formulate responses to regulatory consultations or calls for input to advance HSBC's agenda or mitigate potential risks to HSBC's businesses.
  • Identify and capture internal and external lessons learned in relation to competition law, ensuring that experience and actionable insights are shared with the Asia Pacific region.
Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years' experience of advising on competition law issues.
  • Strong technical legal skills and in-depth knowledge of competition law in a well-established regime.
  • Solid judgment and ability to evaluate risk in a commercially focused way.
  • Demonstrable ability to analyse the competition law implications of business proposals with relatively little supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate legal issues into easy-to-understand briefings.
