About the Role

The Global Industry Analyst (GIA) position is a key member of our Finance team within Global Investment Research (GIR) at Wellington Management. We are seeking an experienced Equity Analyst to join our team, focusing on Asia Bank stocks and providing expert perspective on subsectors and trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fundamental research and make investment recommendations on Asia Bank stocks.
  • Provide expert perspective on subsectors and trends, identifying mispricing and valuation discrepancies.
  • Communicate findings to Portfolio Managers globally, who manage long-only and hedge fund portfolios on behalf of our clients.
  • Take on portfolio management responsibilities for their industry within the firm's research portfolios.
Essential Skills
  • Passion for markets and a demonstrated record of successful stock-picking recommendations.
  • Ability to take risks and hold non-consensus investment views, while maintaining humility and admitting mistakes.
  • Strong academic credentials, ideally including an MBA or CFA.
  • Fluent English speaker, with bilingual proficiency in Mandarin or another Asia language strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Asia Financials (including Banks) research, ideally including experience working on the Buy side as an investor.
Other Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Portfolio Managers across the globe.
  • Demonstrated capacity for differentiated thinking and a strong desire for continuous learning.
  • Global perspective, in addition to regional responsibilities.
  • Understanding of how to incorporate ESG considerations into their investment philosophy and process.
