We are seeking an experienced Associate Solicitor to join our legal team at Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited. This is a full-time position that will involve working closely with our General Counsel to ensure the effective management of our legal affairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Assist in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure that all business operations are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Meeting Support: Assist in creating agendas for meetings and distributing relevant materials to ensure smooth communication.
  • Note-taking and Summarization: Attend meetings and take accurate notes, preparing meeting summaries as needed.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement internal legal governance policies to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify key risks facing the company and provide advice on emerging risks and exposures.
  • Transaction Oversight: Oversee commercial transactions from an early stage to minimize disputes.
  • Legal Solutions: Develop legal solutions from concept through to implementation.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Qualifications: Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong or other common law jurisdiction with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience and a practicing certificate.
  • Experience: 3-6 years of working experience with reputable law firms and/or international companies with legal knowledge in the APAC region (including China), preferably with in-house experience.
  • Languages: Fluent in spoken and written English, with good command of both spoken and written Chinese and Mandarin being an advantage.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, high attention to detail, ability to see the bigger picture, mature with a high sense of responsibility and accountability, good commercial acumen, and ability to prioritize workload and work under time pressure.
