Job Summary

HSBC Global Banking and Markets is seeking a high-calibre professional to join our team as a Loans Administration Manager. This role will be responsible for carrying out daily operational and oversight activities in relation to a book of bilateral/syndicated loans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points.
  • Manage a loan portfolio and the effective daily operations of key processes and controls in relation to loan processing, settlement, and ongoing lifecycle events of bilateral and syndicated loans.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on the operational aspects of the closing process, including initial drawdown, fees, conditions precedent, and other related matters.
  • Review and approve transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders, including borrowers, relationship managers, finance, portfolio management, and origination teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of operations workflow in all required systems.
  • Drive continuous improvements in the current daily process and control environment, ensuring effective risk management and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of corporate loan products and market conventions.
  • Experience with loan agreements and APLMA language requirements applicable to operations.
  • Strong operational risk and control mindset, with ability to identify and resolve control gaps with effective escalation management.
  • Experience across complex loans, such as commercial real estate, leverage, and acquisition finance, export credit agency, aircraft/shipping, and project finance.
  • Highly driven and proactive, with a proven track record of process improvement and change mindset.
  • Ability to work in a pressurized environment, manage priorities effectively, and achieve high standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and inquisitive and pragmatic mindset.
  • Good command of spoken and written English. Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese will be an advantage.
