About This Opportunity:

This position offers the chance to collaborate with class teachers in creating an engaging learning environment for Very Young Learners and contribute to the broader mission of the British Council and its cultural relations objectives.

The British Council Hong Kong Teaching Centre is a prominent institution offering a wide range of kindergarten, primary, and secondary young learner courses across five locations in Hong Kong.

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated teaching assistants to join our team. Our student body comprises approximately 80% young learners, and we are looking for individuals who enjoy working with children and can bring enthusiasm and expertise to this role.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the teacher in preparing lessons and setting up the classroom.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to supervise students and enforce classroom rules during lessons.
  • Model appropriate behaviour and encourage student participation.
  • Manage customer flow and direct customer inquiries and feedback to relevant personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, equality, diversity, and inclusion standards, as well as health and safety guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills in Cantonese.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple English instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of functional classroom language.
  • Preferrably hold HKDSE/GCSE or equivalent qualifications.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Cantonese and English.

  • Experience working with children.
  • Able to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Additional Information:

Pay Band: Hourly-paid (HKD75 per hour)

Contract Type: 1-year fixed contract – renewable
