About the Role

The Global Applications Developer is a vital position within Fung Group, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining computer applications that support the company's global operations. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth functioning of Meiyume's business, bridging the gap between technology and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software applications that meet global business requirements, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Deliver high-quality software solutions within agreed-upon timelines and budgets, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective deployment and support.
  • Continuously research and implement new technologies and development practices to improve application performance and enhance functionality, driving innovation and excellence within the organization.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of applications through rigorous testing and quality assurance practices, addressing and rectifying bugs and performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with local and global project teams, including developers, designers, and project managers, to ensure cohesive and coordinated effort in application development.
  • Engage with internal or external customers to gather and understand their requirements and feedback, ensuring that developed applications meet or exceed customer expectations in terms of functionality, usability, and reliability.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in software development, including data protection and cybersecurity measures, ensuring application compliance with global regulations affecting the business or industry.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and monitoring activities, effectively managing project resources and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for developed applications, including user guides, system architecture, and API documentation, ensuring documentation is accessible and understandable to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability, addressing scalability challenges proactively to ensure applications can handle growth in users and data volume.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including IT support, marketing, sales, and product management, to ensure applications align with broader business strategies and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or certificate in Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in software development, application design, and application support.
  • Extensive knowledge of programming languages, such as C#, Java, Ruby, C++, or Python.
  • Knowledge of database management systems, such as MySQL, Progress, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with user interface design principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibilities, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Experience working in a global environment with cross-functional and/or multicultural teams.
  • Familiar with managing external vendors and able to communicate with users across all levels.
  • Interested in and able to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese, Putonghua/Mandarin, French, Thai, or Indonesian Bahasa speaking and writing ability is an advantage.

Preferred Criteria

  • Knowledge of low-code development, such as OutSystems.
  • Experience working with automation technologies like UIPath, Microsoft, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Selenium, Appium, or TestComplete highly regarded.

The company is looking for a Global Applications Developer to join its team, someone who is passionate about transforming and making waves in the beauty industry. As a Global Applications Developer, you will work with multiple teams to ensure effective deployment, troubleshooting, and support of software applications, bridging the gap between technology and business requirements.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring the highest possible satisfaction of business team members at Meiyume locations globally through effective design, implementation, and support. Any interruption or outage of any component of the application automation could cause an immediate discontinuance in the ability for manufacturing sites to manufacture products, warehouses/distribution centers to ship products and receive raw materials, and offices to communicate using tools such as productivity tools and critical ERP systems.

In short, Meiyume's business could come to an immediate halt if the responsibilities of this position are not executed to an extremely high level of standard. The cost impact of such an outage would far exceed the annual budget for which the position maintains responsibility.
