At Sanderson-iKas, we're seeking a skilled and self-motivated Senior Linux Systems Administrator to lead project-based initiatives and oversee day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient, detail-oriented, and passionate about learning new technologies.

About the Role

This role requires a positive attitude, especially during challenging situations, and a commitment to continuous professional development.

  • Maintain and enhance Linux infrastructure technology to ensure 24x7 service availability.
  • Implement best practices for managing systems and services across various environments.
  • Provide L1, L2, and L3-level server support in alignment with current team protocols.
  • Manage, coordinate, and execute software upgrades, patches, and hotfixes on servers.
  • Develop and modify scripts or applications to automate tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Proactively monitoring system performance and engaging in capacity planning.
  • Conducting fault analysis using logging information for performance reporting.
  • Maintaining knowledge of servers using cluster software and databases.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create automation strategies and deployment processes.
  • Providing weekend support for scheduled changes as needed.
  • Offering on-call support during off-hours when required.
  • Participating in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) drills.
  • Managing physical server infrastructure remotely.
  • Oversseeing maintenance of virtual machines within internal ESX farms and cloud environments (AWS).
  • Building new physical and virtual servers according to established standards.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Linux Administrator.
  • Proficiency in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar technologies deployed in internal infrastructure.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Linux, particularly RedHat, in both physical and virtual environments.
  • Hands-on experience with physical and virtual server deployments.
  • Familiarity with various server hardware and architecture, preferably HPE or equivalent.
  • Expertise in automation tools like Ansible, along with scripting capabilities in Shell, Perl, and Python.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
