Job Title: Director, Legal Counsel

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Legal Counsel to join our team in Hong Kong. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide legal services and advice on various matters, including regulatory, general banking, and finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support on regulatory, general banking, and finance matters.
  • Oversee the provision of advice and support covering the full range of CA-CIB's activities in a legal team.
  • Advising on enforcement options in loan default scenarios.
  • Advising on data privacy, bank secrecy, digital, outsourcing, employment law, and/or procurement matters.
  • Liaising with external counsels and/or other worldwide legal team members within CA-CIB / CASA.
  • Participating in industry-wide initiatives and acting as CA-CIB's representative on various APLMA Product or Policy Committees.
  • Maintaining awareness of market changes and regulation, and the potential legal impact.
  • Reviewing legal and regulatory developments and updating business or support functions.
  • Providing legal input in approval process of new product or activity across APAC.
  • Participating in projects regarding automation of the production of legal documents, digitalisation, e-Business, and other new business initiatives and transversal projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent.
  • NSW/Australian and HK qualified.
  • Practice experience in Australia will be an advantage.
  • 6-10 years of experience.
  • 4-8 years PQE Banking and Finance lawyer.
  • Experience with working in an international law firm and (preferably) also in a financial institution.
  • Experience in advising on data privacy, bank secrecy, digital, outsourcing, employment law, and/or procurement matters will be an advantage.

Language:

English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) - written and spoken.
