Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our team at Adidas. As a key player in Global Sourcing, you will drive our vision to be the Most Agile, Most Competitive, Most Digitalized & Cleanest Supply Base in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for Chemicals, Water and Waste management across our supply chain.
  • Lead strategic projects and implement tools and audits to drive our environmental goals and vision.
  • Manage ESG reporting requirements and develop a sourcing strategy to ensure compliance in Chemicals, Water and Waste.
  • Analyze Key Performance Indicators to track supplier performance and provide business partners with clear summary on supplier direction for future improvement.
  • Engage with third parties, including NGOs, Government bodies and professional institutions to further investigate and test future concepts linked to Chemicals, Water and Waste management.
  • Maintain knowledge on relevant environmental legislation and report updates; identify areas of risk and provide recommendations based on legal obligations, strategic commitments and/or Social Environmental Affairs requirements.
  • Identify training needs in the supply chain, provide training and conduct regular monitoring and oversight to ensure suppliers meet reporting deadlines in sustainability systems.
  • Monitor annual third-party verification process and provide guidance to suppliers in driving improvements.
  • Manage input into annual supplier programme assessments.
  • Model leadership to foster a culture of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
  • Develop and coach team to ensure the best standards of performance, appropriate skillsets and strong succession plans are in place.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of current global environmental sustainability topics, especially Chemical Management, Water Consumption and Waste.
  • Strong ability to develop business cases, including financial implications for environmental investments.
  • Strong communication skills to simplify complex information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytics, problem-solving, project management, presentation, people and influencing skills.
  • Strong ability in leading multidimensional teams.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong Microsoft office skills.

Requisite Education and Experience:

  • University degree in Chemical, Process, Industrial, Environmental Engineering, Manufacturing (Textile or Footwear).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Environment and Sustainability, manufacturing (apparel and footwear) preferable within the supply chain.
