Head of Asia Asset Liability Management

Position Overview
The Asia Asset Liability Management (ALM) team is seeking a Senior Director to lead the management of ALM risks and optimize the balance sheet in the Asia region. This pivotal role is based in Singapore and involves close collaboration with senior leadership including the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and Chief Actuary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the ALM team in Toronto to create and evaluate ALCO reports and various risk assessments.
- Assess asset allocation and quality against established benchmarks, providing recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
- Oversee the execution of projects aimed at developing and implementing investment strategies.
- Advise on and implement hedging strategies to mitigate risks while maximizing returns.
- Offer expert guidance to local stakeholders on ALM and market risk matters.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
- Support other ALM teams in executing investment strategies and fulfilling reporting requirements.
- Represent the ALM function in discussions with the business unit ALCO.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ownership and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to seeing projects through to completion.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical and business concepts clearly and effectively.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members, acting as a team ambassador.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting across various disciplines and time zones.
- Relevant actuarial or investment experience, with designations such as CFA, PRM, or FRM being advantageous.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in investment management or financial risk management.
- Strong understanding of fixed income investments, derivatives, ALM, and asset-liability modeling.
Challenges:
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines.
- Working independently with minimal supervision.
