Job Summary

The Hong Kong Sports Institute is seeking a highly skilled Sports Science Manager to join our team. As a key member of our sports science department, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of comprehensive sports science programs for our elite athletes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise junior staff in the sports science laboratory
  • Conduct physiological assessments for athletes on the field and in the lab
  • Coordinate exercise testing and provide advice on recovery strategies
  • Supervise subordinates and collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective service delivery
  • Manage data from training and competition, and provide on-field support to sports teams
  • Operate the laboratory, including maintenance of equipment and control of consumables
  • Assist in new project planning and deliver educational lectures for coaches and athletes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior staff

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Physiology, Sports Science, Exercise Science, or related disciplines
  • Valid first aid, CPR, and AED certificate
  • Minimum 4 years related experience, preferably in sports science or 2 years full-time experience in related disciplines and 2 years full-time experience as an athlete within a high-performance system
  • At least 2 years' experience, including supervisory experience in a laboratory setting, with demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience with cardiopulmonary exercise tests, strength and physical training on elite level athletes
  • Good interpersonal and planning skills, able to work irregular hours and perform under pressure
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese; ability to speak Putonghua is a definite advantage
  • Capable of operating SPSS, Visual FoxPro, and MS Access
