Insurance Finance Reporting – Insurance Business Finance Department

The Insurance Business Finance Department is a key function within Hang Seng Bank, responsible for providing financial management, financial planning, financial reporting, and compliance services to our insurance business. We are seeking a high-caliber professional to join our team as an Insurance Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in financial control and reporting, including the preparation of audited financial statements of insurance manufacturing subsidiaries of Hang Seng under the HKFRS 9 and 17 basis with robust control environment maintained.
  • Maintain the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports; controls and analysis for senior management of Hang Seng, or HSBC Group, or forms requested by management and identify high-risk areas or key issues to the business and help drive key insights and decision making or make recommendations where appropriate.
  • Have a basic understanding of regular investment asset operation and management and provide input in Company and Group investment reporting at investment asset to ensure compliance with Company and Group reporting requirements.
  • Participate in UAT, like perform testing on Qliksense dashboards in supporting the financial information to be presented.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key local and global stakeholders like management of Bank, Group Insurance, and business units to ensure effective communication and accurate interpretation of financial information or analysis.
  • Manage change, facilitate transition process, and evaluate any risk located with any implementation, communicate with related stakeholders (onshore and offshore teams) on change update and action.
  • Work and oversee effectively with both onshore and offshore team, to maximize the available onshore business partnering time.
  • Support ad hoc matters and administration tasks related to the Department.

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, or a related discipline with a recognized professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years' accounting/audit experience in sizable organizations, with exposure to insurance companies and with knowledge of insurance products. Exposure to financial institutions or knowledge in actuarial principles is an advantage.
  • Independent, ability to work under pressure and in changing environment with strong communication, interpersonal, and people managerial skills.
  • Self-motivated, high ownership of work product and dedication and commitment to driving results.
  • Strong business sense, coupled with good business partnering and ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders.
  • Solid analytical skills complemented by astute financial and business acumen.
  • Sound knowledge of application software such as MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese.
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes.
