Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Seasonal Lifeguard to join our team at the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. As a Seasonal Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers at public swimming pools, rescuing swimmers in distress, maintaining order, and assisting in cleaning work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure the safety of swimmers at public swimming pools
• Rescue swimmers in distress
• Maintain order and assist in cleaning work
• Work shifts during the period from 6:15 am to 10:15 pm, including weekends and public holidays
Requirements:
• Possess at least one year's work experience at public swimming pools within 20 years of service immediately before retirement
• Possess a valid Pool Lifeguard Award or above issued by the Hong Kong Life Saving Society
• Possess a valid First Aid Certificate issued by the St. John Ambulance Association, Hong Kong Red Cross, or Auxiliary Medical Service
• Pass the selection interview, swimming, and trade tests
• Pass an eyesight test and the Ishihara's Test
• Have satisfactory performance and conduct in the most recent three years of service in LCSD
Terms of Appointment:
Applicants will be appointed on contract terms under the PRSC Scheme. Upon satisfactory completion of the contract and subject to satisfactory performance and conduct during the contract period, PRSC Seasonal Lifeguard (Swimming Pool) may be granted a gratuity. The gratuity payable for the contract will be the sum which, when added to the Government's contribution as required by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap 485), equals to 15% of the total basic salary of substantive office drawn during the period of contract. For those who serve a continuous contract for three months or above, and obtain/revalidate their valid Pool Lifeguard Award or above issued by the Hong Kong Life Saving Society starting from 1 November 2022 until 31 October 2023 or the prescribed contract end date (whichever is earlier), an additional end-of-contract gratuity of HK$2,000 will be payable.
