The Division of Social Science at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking to fill positions in Applied Economics. As an English-speaking research university with an international faculty, we invite applications of all ranks (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor) to join our highly ranked Division of Social Science.

We are looking for candidates with a PhD degree and experience in applied research in any major economics field(s), including development, environment, health, history, industrial organization, labor and public finance. Strong training in research methodology is preferred. Successful candidates are expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Initial appointment at Associate/Assistant Professor rank will normally be on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement

Application Procedure

Applicants should send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement, a sample publication, and teaching records electronically via Interfolio at. Associate/Assistant Professor applicants should arrange for 3 letters of recommendation to be sent via interfolio. For tenured positions, references will be solicited only after both sides agree to proceed with the process of appointment.

Review of applications will start on 1 December 2023 and the search will continue until the positions are filled.
