Job Summary:

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is seeking an exceptional candidate for a Research Assistant Professorship in Environmental Geophysics. The successful applicant will contribute to the department's research excellence by leading innovative projects in geophysical methods for landslide kinematics and dynamics, earthquake-landslide interactions, and slow-moving landslides' life cycle evolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply for external competitive research grants to secure funding for research projects
  • Develop and participate in collaborative research projects with internal and external partners
  • Co-supervise and mentor postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers
  • Undertake teaching duties at undergraduate and graduate levels, including course development and delivery
  • Provide service at department, faculty, and university levels, including committee work and community engagement

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Geophysics or a related field with at least one year of postdoctoral research experience
  • Strong academic credentials and records, as evidenced by high-quality publications as a leading author
  • Experience in independently leading innovative research projects, with a proven track record of securing research funding
