Commercial Banking Strategist

HSBC is seeking a skilled Commercial Banking Strategist to join our team in Hong Kong. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in driving business growth and optimizing commercial banking operations.

About the Role

In this exciting opportunity, you will lead the design and development of cutting-edge tools and frameworks to enhance our commercial banking strategy. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving business innovation, improving profitability, and mitigating risk. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, including product specialists, IT teams, and business leaders, to ensure seamless execution and alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop advanced tools and frameworks to optimize commercial banking operations and improve profitability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business innovation and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Provide thought leadership on credit framework design and calibration, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives.
  • Analyze complex data sets to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Partner with product specialists and regional heads to ensure models are optimized for local market conditions.
  • Contribute to the development of a 'hub organization' approach, sharing expertise and connecting disparate teams.
Requirements
  • Broad-based banking experience in financial services, preferably in credit, rates, or cash management markets.
  • Proven track record of leading established strats teams.
  • Outstanding numeracy skills, hands-on knowledge of coding languages (e.g., Python, C++), and strong experience with core Quants software development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting recommendations to senior management.
  • Strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
