The Office of the Dean of Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a highly skilled IT Manager to fill a leadership role. The appointee will oversee the team members in the application development of the Office, ensuring the effective management of Information Systems functions.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead various Information System functions, including managing application development and database management, and taking the lead to liaise with various stakeholders;
  • Plan, monitor, and oversee assigned projects/tasks in the capacity of a project manager or project lead;
  • Re-engineer and improve business processes, design and configure systems to ensure well-designed systems are in place;
  • Design, develop, and maintain websites.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline with at least 8 years of system development experience at higher education institutions, preferably in the design and implementation of large-scale application systems development projects, system administration, web-based application development, database, and web programming.

Key Skills:

Strong technical and programming knowledge, system development methodology, demonstrated experience in user liaison in higher education settings, and expertise in multimedia applications are essential. The candidate is expected to have an analytical mindset, problem-solving, and communication skills, and the willingness to drive changes in a complex environment.

Benefits:

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, including annual leave, medical, and dental benefits, will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
