About the role Our client, a sizable MNC, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Accountant to join their finance team based in Hong Kong. This full‑time position offers a hands‑on opportunity to manage financial compliance and reporting for retail operations across Asia. You will play a vital role in supporting the company’s broader objectives by ensuring accuracy, transparency, and regulatory compliance in every transaction. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in multinational environments, communicates fluently across cultures, and brings both technical expertise and strategic insight to the finance function. What you'll be doing Oversee and maintain accurate financial records for Asia‑based retail operations. Process and report financial transactions, including accounts payable and cash flow activities. Partner with finance and cross‑functional teams across Asia and global headquarters to align reporting and operations. Prepare journal entries and financial reports through detailed account analysis. Translate complex financial data into practical insights for business stakeholders. Ensure adherence to regional accounting standards and uphold robust internal controls. Assist in the rollout of new accounting policies and contribute to continuous process enhancements. Play an active role in finance‑led initiatives such as accounting tool maintenance and automation projects. Stay up‑to‑date with changes in accounting regulations and best practices. What we're looking for Excellent communication and language proficiency in English and Mandarin; Cantonese is essential for effective collaboration with local teams. Higher Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. Qualified accountant with 2+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting and reporting. CPA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification is a strong advantage. Familiarity with accounting practices in Asia, sizable MNC retail group operations and compliance requirements will be viewed as an asset. Proficiency in using Excel and Oracle, other CRM accounting software and data analysis/spreadsheet tools. Exhibit strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities, with a keen eye for accuracy and data integrity. Demonstrate understanding of financial accounting principles and confidence in presenting financial insights across functions and cultures. Ability to thrive in fast‑paced environments with strong attention to detail and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team. Proactive working attitude and solution‑oriented mindset, with excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
