Job Position Summary

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for the position of (IT) Technical Project Manager to help shape and drive forward the design, implementation and manage applications (largely cloud-based) across Fleet.

The successful candidate will need a hands-on approach and be responsible for managing multiple IT projects and overseeing the execution of IT projects across FLEET. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, system administrators, and stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality reliable, effective and secure solutions that align with business objectives.

This role is a key part of Fleet's focus to develop leading digital capability to enhance and improve our platforms deployed on over 650+ ships.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A typical working day may include the following activities:

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead and manage multiple IT projects – some in direct ownership, others in collaboration with development teams.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and lead project teams, ensuring effective communication, task assignment, and progress tracking.
  • Proactive monitoring and management of project risks, issues, and dependencies implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Implement appropriate project governance frameworks to ensure all projects keep all parties updated.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of project deliverables to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Possess a strong understanding of IT foundations covering areas such as Infrastructure, Software Development Lifecycle and Product Management.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to design and implement reliable and scalable solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members addressing challenges and facilitating problem-solving.
  • Work across the Digital/IT team on complex use-cases translating technical concepts and communicating in a way others find easy to understand.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including Directors and Senior Managers.
  • Coach other team members in reviewing their plans and providing best-practice guidance.
  • Work in partnership with vendors to deliver outcomes that help drive cost-effective digital capability for Fleet.

EXTERNAL:

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications

ESSENTIAL:

  • Project Management - Proven experience (7+ years) as an IT-focused Project Manager delivering tangible results.
  • Experience of directly handling multiple projects in parallel – including creating and managing plans/budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities - with a focus on finding practical and efficient solutions.
  • Change Management – landing changes across users successfully.
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, systems development life cycle (SDLC), and software engineering principles.
  • Hands-on experience of managing multiple IT vendors and demonstrating how to develop strong partnerships.
  • Strong in written and verbal communication in English.

DESIRABLE:

  • Working experience of Agile methodologies and techniques (e.g. SCRUM, XP, Lean).
  • Project Management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2.
  • Technical Certifications in AWS, Azure or GoogleCloud.
  • Analysis and Problem Solving: Uses a systematic approach to root cause analysis on complex problems to identify underlying trends and put forward well-thought-out solutions to address the causes and reduce risk.
  • Listening and Communicating: Is effective in communicating their vision with a wider audience. A good communicator knows when to use which channel, and which tone of voice in order to drive maximum impact.
  • Collaboration, inclusion, and teamwork: A great team player is proactively going out there to encourage, support and recognise work performed by others. The person is always trying to find common ground to share their ideas and experience.
