Portfolio Officer – Middle Office The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing infrastructure for tomorrow in Asia and beyond, with sustainability at its core. The Portfolio Management Department (PMD) monitors the implementation of AIIB‑funded projects, providing administration, risk management, and quality assurance of the Bank’s expanding portfolio, comprising sovereign‑backed and non‑sovereign‑backed financing projects. PMD refines the investment process with international best practices, ensuring timely implementation of bank‑financed projects with high‑quality standards, compliance with Bank policies, and alignment with strategic goals. The Portfolio Officer – Middle Office will report to the Senior Portfolio Officer and the Head of PMD’s Middle Office, and play an important role in PMD’s Middle Office team. The role provides administrative, technical, and paralegal support to client‑facing portfolio officers and the Project and Asset Management team while delivering outstanding service to AIIB’s clients. Responsibilities : Support the Head of MO in establishing, maintaining, and innovating MO operating and reporting systems, processes and procedures to enhance service standards, create efficiencies, and reduce operational risks. Assist client‑facing POs and the Project and Asset Management team in assessing investment performance, reviewing compliance, processing payments & repayments, mitigating risks, recovering project‑related expenses, and identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio efficiency and impact. Ensure clients’ adherence to contractual obligations under finance documents, especially timely submission of reportorial requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain the completeness and accuracy of the database of project‑related data and documentation for management information. Help the Head of MO with initiatives designed to facilitate PMD’s interaction with other units and develop systems and procedures to streamline credit administration. Coordinate liaison with other Bank departments as needed. Document lessons learned and operational insights, and provide feedback to investment‑operation and portfolio‑management teams to continuously improve operations and systems. Carry out other duties assigned by the Head of MO. Requirements : Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience monitoring project implementation for infrastructure investment operations. Master’s degree (e.g., economics, finance, business administration, international relations) or equivalent professional experience. Adequate understanding of the middle office’s role in portfolio management and the value it adds to internal and external clients. Knowledge of know‑your‑customer / integrity‑due‑diligence activities is an advantage. Track record of successfully resolving operational issues. Proficiency in managing financial models and running sensitivities; experience in building and auditing financial models is a plus. Superior written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to synthesize complex issues succinctly. Prior experience in deal origination, project structuring, and negotiation is an asset. Experience in Asia (including Middle East and Central Asia) is a plus.
