Co‑organised with the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care at CUHK and the School of Nursing at HKU, the Conference brings together over 450 professionals across healthcare, social services, legal sectors, and academia to explore end‑of‑life care, grief, inclusiveness, and mental wellbeing. Across keynote lectures, scientific sessions, practice sharing and panel discussions, the Conference addresses major themes such as disenfranchised grief, loneliness and mental health, clinical challenges in end‑of‑life communication, Advance Medical Directives, LGBTQ+ health inequities, and inclusive end‑of‑life preparation. What We Have Comprehensive volunteer briefing (online or in‑person in mid‑January) covering the event flow, venue layout, assigned duties, and key contacts. Clear written guides, including briefing packs, schedules, maps, and role descriptions for easy reference throughout the event. All necessary equipment and materials, such as lanyards, registration devices, signage, and stationery. A volunteer WhatsApp/communication group for real‑time updates, coordination, and support before and during the event. Refreshments and designated rest areas to ensure volunteers remain comfortable and energised throughout their shifts. Certificate of Appreciation (upon request) to recognise volunteer service for the Conference and Grief Carnival. Why this is important The Live Well, Die Well Annual Conference & Grief Carnival 2026 is one of Alongside Limited’s core initiatives to advance public understanding of end‑of‑life planning, grief literacy, and inclusive care in Hong Kong. By bringing together professionals, community members, and the general public, the project directly supports Alongside’s mission to promote lifelong autonomy, reduce stigma around death and grief, and create safe, inclusive spaces for reflection and support.
