Project Engineer

Position Overview We are seeking a mechanically-minded Project Engineer to take ownership of the mechanical design and development of our products. Your primary focus will be on creating robust, reliable, and clever mechanical systems and plastic components, with a secondary focus on integrating these with standard electronic modules like alarm clocks, sound boards, and simple actuators. Key Responsibilities End-to-End Mechanical Design: Lead the design of mechanical systems and plastic components from concept to production, ensuring DFM/DFA and successful integration with electronic modules. Project Planning & Timeline Management: Develop and manage the project development schedule, identify critical paths, and coordinate resources to meet key project milestones. Validation & Problem-Solving: Oversee prototyping, testing, and debugging to validate designs and resolve integration issues related to fit, function, and durability. Production Ramp-Up: Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to resolve tooling issues, define quality controls, and ensure a successful production launch. Technical Leadership: Create comprehensive documentation and collaborate cross-functionally to align mechanical design with aesthetic, electronic, and business goals. Qualifications and Requirements You have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. You have 5+ years of hands‑on experience in mechanical design, preferably with products involving injection‑molded plastics and moving assemblies . Experience in toys, consumer goods, or small appliances is ideal. You are an expert in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for complex part and assembly design. You have a deep understanding of mechanical principles (kinematics, dynamics, materials) and a passion for how things work. You possess strong knowledge of the injection molding process and design constraints. You have experience integrating mechanical designs with basic electronic components (e.g., mounting motors, routing wires, housing PCBAs). You don't need to design the circuits, but you must understand how to interface with them. Experience with small mechanisms (e.g., gearboxes, watch movements, latch mechanisms) is a significant advantage. You are a practical, hands‑on problem‑solver who enjoys building and testing physical prototypes. Familiarity with relevant safety standards (e.g., electrical safety, toy safety, RoHS). Location Hong Kong, frequent travel required. Language Good command of English, Cantonese, and Putonghua. We offer attractive remuneration packages to the successful candidates.
