Add expected salary to your profile for insights Department of Geography and Resource Management Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor (Ref: Q6) The Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is seeking an exceptional candidate for a post at Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor rank, with particular interest in applicants with expertise in urban planning. Applicants should possess: A doctoral degree in urban planning or a related field (e.g., urban studies, architecture, geography, or public policy). A strong academic background. Demonstrated outstanding research and scholarly work in the relevant fields, showcasing capability for research excellence. Interdisciplinary training (e.g., an education background in both urban planning and architecture) and innovative teaching pedagogy. Responsibilities The appointee will be responsible for: Teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels related to sustainable urban planning or adjacent fields. Conducting independent research and seeking research grants. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on relevant research projects. Undertaking academic administrative service. S/he is expected to teach several courses in the following areas: Theories and Values in Urban Planning Spatial Planning Urban Planning and Design Studio Sustainable Planning (studio-based) Appointment will normally be made on a contract basis for up to three years initially, targeted to start in August 2026 or as soon as practicable thereafter, subject to performance, funding availability, and mutual agreement. This may lead to a longer‑term appointment or substantiation (tenure) later. Outstanding candidates for Professor rank may be specially considered for substantive appointments forthwith.
