Position details: Temporary/Part‑time R&D in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, closing date 01/Dec/2025, 3:59 PM. Major Duties and Responsibilities Support the research team in a project titled “Echoes of the Past: Reconstructing Vanished Soundscapes in Hong Kong through Archaeoacoustics” (R6675). Conduct literature reviews related to sound studies, music archaeology, and immersive audio research. Collect and organize data, including field recordings, archival materials and audio documentation for analysis. Assist Principal Investigator(s) with preparation, coordination and execution of research studies and artistic experiments. Participate in the design, implementation and documentation of sound‑based research and artistic outputs. Assist in planning and organizing related workshops, symposia and performances. Prepare materials for publications, exhibitions and other research outcome deliverables. Undertake other ad‑hoc research and administrative activities as instructed by the Principal Investigator. Qualifications, Experience and Competence A master’s degree or above in music, sound art, creative media or any related discipline (position I); a bachelor’s degree in music technology, sound design, media art or related discipline (position II). Strong ability and knowledge in music composition, sound design, spatial audio or audio programming. Preferred understanding of acoustic ecology, sound archaeology and art‑technology integration. Intention to pursue a research postgraduate degree is preferred. Proven record in academic paper publication or conference presentation in music, sound or media art. Experience with digital audio workstations (e.g. Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Reaper, Max/MSP) or sound analysis tools. Experience with web‑based or interactive media tools (e.g. TouchDesigner, Unity, HTML/JavaScript) is an advantage. Strong organisational and planning skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, document editing, etc. Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and able to work independently under tight deadlines. Professional communication skills for handling correspondence, coordination and documentation. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
