Counsellor in the Student Development Services (Ref. R/328/25) Reporting to the Associate Director (Counselling) of Student Development Services, the appointee will be responsible for: Strategising, coordinating and evaluating psychological counselling support for SEN students across the university; Conducting intake and assessment sessions to identify support needs; Formulating and recommending academic accommodations for eligible SEN students; Providing ongoing psychological counselling to SEN students and those suspected of having SEN conditions; Conducting individual support meetings to assist SEN students in adjusting to university life and developing coping strategies; Designing and delivering workshops on mental wellness, life skills and personal development; Initiating and organising programs and training to promote campus integration and career development for SEN students; Planning and implementing university-wide awareness campaigns to foster an inclusive campus culture; Leading and advising the Inclusive Ambassadors student group to enhance welfare and inclusion; Liaising with academic staff, family members and external agencies on student welfare matters; Supervising project officers and support staff in delivering SEN programmes and support measures; Collaborating closely with the SDS Counselling Service team and other departments to ensure seamless student support; Performing any other duties as assigned. The appointee will be required to work flexible hours on a need basis. Requirements A Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification, preferably in Social Work/Counselling Psychology/Clinical Psychology/Counselling or related disciplines and be eligible for membership in relevant professional bodies. Candidates with a Master’s degree should have at least 5 years’ post‑qualification experience in counselling‑related, or possess not less than 10 years’ counselling‑related experience following a Bachelor’s degree. The ability to offer counselling in fluent English, Cantonese and Putonghua, along with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, maturity and independently is essential. Experience working with SEN students is preferred. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test. Salary and Conditions of Service Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed‑term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
