Associate Director - Campus Development Office (CDO) The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is seeking a high-caliber, seasoned professional to serve as Associate Director, supporting the Director of Campus Development in leading the Campus Development Office (CDO). The CDO delivers capital works projects that continuously develop and enhance the built environment, providing an inspirational and sustainable campus for work, study, and living. Responsibilities Support the Director of Campus Development (DCD) in maintaining a sustainable environment for education and research, and in consultation with University Senior Management and Council, review and further develop the Campus Development Plan (CDP) and Campus Renewal Plan (CRP) to ensure they meet the University's evolving needs. Taking into consideration the University's aspirations, priorities and available resources, support the DCD in translating the CDP and CRP into physical reality, providing an inspirational, sustainable, accessible and safe place to work, study and live. Support the DCD in liaising with the University Grants Committee (UGC) on capital matters, including funding applications for new capital works and Alterations, Additions, Repairs and Improvements (AA&I) works. Collaborate with academic departments to integrate research and innovation into campus projects. Oversee procurement and manage consultants and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with quality and safety standards. Possess good knowledge of construction compliance. Oversee and resolve complex project delivery issues by aligning stakeholder needs with project design, budget and schedule; managing construction claims and risks; and ensure effective communication with the project team and Senior Management. Communicate and present project updates on cost, risk, quality and schedule to key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely information flow across University committees, management, and project teams. Support the DCD in managing campus space planning, allocation and usage to advance University goals. Provide senior-level support to all members of the CDO team, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and best-practice delivery. Qualifications and Experience Required A degree in a construction-related field and membership in a recognized professional organization, such as the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers or Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. A minimum of 15 years' post-qualification experience in architecture, engineering or construction, with substantial site construction experience. Proven project management skills and experience in leading complex capital works from planning through completion, with strong knowledge of construction contracts. Excellent leadership and communication skills; strong business acumen and management capability; strong stakeholder management and engagement skills; and a good command of spoken and written English. Knowledge of Chinese is preferred. Experience liaising with relevant government agencies and statutory bodies and a proven track record of delivering sustainable, innovative design solutions in capital projects is desirable. (Duration: 2 years, renewable) Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, housing, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
