ROLE OBJECTIVES

The Head of Women's Technical Rugby (Head Coach – Women's XVs) will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing women's team.

The role will be pivotal for the acceleration and development of the women's game in Hong Kong, by providing strong leadership and a proven track record in the women's international game and/or other high-performing rugby teams.

The role sits within the HKCR Performance Team and will encourage collaboration between all performance functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Women's Senior Representative XVs team towards major global events, including the Asia Rugby Championships, RWC cycles, and Global XVs competitions.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of the Women's Representative XVs senior teams, and support sub-disciplines across coaching, S&C, refereeing, and technical development.
  • Provide a high level of technical and tactical skills coaching within campaign and skill development blocks to ensure individual and team excellence.
  • Line manage and oversee the Women's Representative XVs Assistant Coaches (WCCOs), and advance position-specific coaching in identified areas.
  • Directly manage the Premiership Women's Club Coaching Officers and provide continuous development across coaching and technical rugby within the Women's Premiership.
  • Oversee and develop coaching expertise within the Premiership Women's Club Coaching Officers and provide support and mentorship.
  • Support the strategic direction of the Women's Premiership competition to enhance a performance-based league to showcase Hong Kong-Qualified players and transition into Representative programmes.
  • Build a robust Hong Kong Qualified player matrix to ensure strength in depth over the next two RWC cycles.
  • Work closely and effectively with the Hong Kong Sport Institute Women's 7s and academy staff in managing players across 7s and 15s programmes, and help drive up performance standards.
  • Lead the review process for the Women's XVs representative programmes and provide performance reports to senior management.
  • Provide regular performance updates to all key stakeholders in a range of different presentation and communication styles.
  • Attend relevant Women's Premiership club, tertiary, and age-grade training and matches to ensure visibility, connectivity, and help build the profile of the HKCR programmes (in Hong Kong and overseas).
  • Work flexibly within the team to support the delivery of the HKCR strategic plan.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Level 3 rugby union coaching certificate or equivalent.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional technical coaching and mentoring skills, with experience in elite rugby environments.
  • High level of technical and tactical rugby expertise.
  • Ability and experience to manage departmental budgetary planning and implementation.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours.
