School Health Professional (Part-Time) - West Island School West Island School is looking for a School Health Professional on a part-time basis (regular contract, 2 days per week, starting mid-February 2026). Responsibilities Operational Responsible for First Aid provision and medical care to students and staff to maintain optimum safety and health within the school community Respond to the needs of students or staff reporting sick, prioritise and deal with them as appropriate, including carrying out appropriate First Aid care Make arrangements to send staff or students home, contact parents, or hospitalise when necessary Update medical records on Gateway on a regular basis, maintain a log of all medical room visits, and report as appropriate Maintain the medical room in a good, clean, and sanitary condition Purchase and maintain adequate and appropriate supplies for the medical room, First Aid kits (on-site and for excursions), and classroom “Bleed Boxes” throughout the year Complete Accident Report Forms Student Support Liaise with tutors and pastoral staff on medical updates Provide support and care to students on other issues (e.g., bullying, family problems); refer to a counsellor or pastoral staff as appropriate Assist with First Aid for swimming gala and sports day PE activities occurring off-site Advise and educate students on follow‑up care, general health matters, immunization, etc. (School Nurse only) Collate information for the Health Department’s Student Health Service Other Duties Check First Aid kits placed throughout the school premises on a regular basis Maintain and keep track of outdoor First Aid kits for excursions during Horizons Week and other trips throughout the year Train staff and students on relevant aspects of health education as required Perform other duties and accountabilities as delegated, including mutually agreed‑upon objectives Report to the Director of Learning (Lower School) Requirements Qualifications & Experience Licensed or registered nurse in Hong Kong (for the role of School Nurse) OR Nursing degree, registration, or nursing license in a non‑Hong Kong jurisdiction (for the role of School Health Professional) 3–5 years of relevant experience in a hospital, clinic, or education environment, including treating children Abilities & Knowledge Ability to perform routine medical procedures and first‑aid treatment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff, students, and parents CPR and First Aid provider A dynamic and committed individual with a keen interest in contributing to the well‑being provision of students alongside the pastoral team Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
