Associate Director - G10 Trader Location: HSBC Central & Western District, Hong Kong SAR We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Associate Director, G10 Trader. In this role you will Join the G10 STIR/FX Trading desk, an integral part of the foreign exchange business under Markets and Securities Services (MSS) within the global HSBC network. The role is based in Hong Kong and reports to the Head of G10 STIR APAC. Market‑make in G10 FX swaps, interest rate swaps and cross‑currency swaps, providing timely and accurate prices to the bank’s global clients via electronic and voice channels. Generate revenue by facilitating franchise flows and effectively managing inventory risk positions while adhering to the bank’s risk appetite and applicable limits. Revenue targets will be set annually. Own a key currency franchise under the local book arrangement in Hong Kong, collaborating closely with global FX traders in hubs such as London and New York to share market views and insights. Maintain the highest standards of ethics, adhering to the FX code of conduct and all applicable internal policies while conducting regulated activity. Work closely with sales colleagues across APAC sites to grow HSBC’s leading market position. Participate in technology working groups aimed at improving pricing, risk‑management tools, revenue analysis and operational robustness, with KPIs incorporated into annual goal setting. To be successful you will need Understanding of G10 FX swaps, derivatives such as OIS and IRS, interest rate futures, bond futures, and cross‑currency swaps, including familiarity with HRR, predelivery and full termination. Knowledge of pricing non‑standard, bespoke derivatives using SUMMIT (e.g., fixed‑float currency swaps, amortising swaps, cross‑currency swaps without notional exchanges, swaps with unique payment schedules). Strong grasp of financial mathematics and discounting concepts, with the ability to explain how day‑count conventions, payment frequency, lookback periods, or payment delays influence derivatives pricing. Keen interest in global macro‑dynamics, monetary and fiscal policy, geopolitics, and economic cycles, and the ability to explain their impact on interest rates, currencies and funding markets. Risk appetite for inventory risk‑taking in cash FX, mono‑currency interest rates, and/or cross‑currency basis, quantified in DV01, instrument choice, P&L and risk limits. Strong sense of ethics and conduct, maturity as a financial market professional, and the ability to multi‑task, work well under pressure, and demonstrate problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Proficiency in a language in addition to English and/or experience working in Asia Pacific (a plus but not required).
