Senior Legal Counsel, Director (Legal, Risk & Compliance Department) Join to apply for the Senior Legal Counsel, Director (Legal, Risk & Compliance Department) role at CMU OmniClear Limited. Key Responsibilities Advise on the legal and regulatory aspects of the operation and development of the CMU Provide legal support in implementing strategies to facilitate the commercialisation of the CMU, including assessing the relevant legal, regulatory and contractual implications Provide timely legal support for business execution, ensuring that all projects are properly documented and compliant with relevant laws and regulations Advise on legal and regulatory matters related to the corporate structure, governance and activities of CMU-related entities, including board and shareholder meetings and compliance with applicable corporate laws and regulations Requirements Duly admitted as a legal practitioner in a recognised jurisdiction as stipulated under the Legal Officers Ordinance At least 8 years’ post-qualification experience (part of which may be gained overseas) in advising on matters related to capital markets, central securities depositories, and/or custody business Familiarity with financial markets and the legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to financial market infrastructures (e.g. payment systems, central securities depositories) Understanding of the operation of Euroclear, Clearstream or DTCC is a distinct advantage Experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructuring is a plus Familiarity with company law and corporate governance matters Organised and detail-oriented, with effective communication skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and highly motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Excellent command of spoken and written English; proficiency in Chinese is preferable Candidates with supplementary experience and qualifications will also be considered, even if they do not meet all of the specified requirements above (Candidates with less experience may be considered for an offer of appointment at Legal Counsel, Associate Director level.)
